Our Loving Meditations Story

Six words that changed everything…

How did David Dachinger and Tamara Green, LCSW go from love-struck college kids to the dynamic co-founders of Loving Meditations?

Their journey began with their falling in love (literally at first sight) back in 1977. They each had big dreams for their future and careers… David envisioned setting the world on fire with his musical performance, recording, and producing skills, while Tamara dreamed of being a psychotherapist, helping thousands to gain inner peace and love. As you’ll read below, they totally fulfilled their visions for success in their respective careers.

Why they didn’t get married and start their family until 1994 is a longer story. Some depict their relationship as a ‘Hollywood-type love story,’ with a series of trials and tribulations along the way. You can certainly get the juicy details in Chapter 2 of their bestselling book, Live Calm With Cancer… (and Beyond).

After navigating these earlier life hurdles, in 2013 David and Tamara once again had some challenges to overcome. Their (then) 13-year-old son was diagnosed with Lyme disease and four days later, in a head and neck surgeon’s office, they heard the six words that changed everything… “David, you have stage IV cancer!”

Suddenly, cancer patient and caregiver…

Stunned by the news and instantly thrown into the respective roles of patient and caregiver, David and Tamara were told there was no time to waste. David needed to start treatment within a few days, during the Thanksgiving weekend. When the shock began to wear off, it didn’t take long for them to return to the mindfulness practice that had helped them throughout their lives. Choosing to focus on the gifts rather than the difficulties, they stayed calm, grateful, and even optimistic, with David avoiding serious health complications from his treatment. This sparked David’s oncologist to ask what they were doing to remain so upbeat. “Whatever it is,” he said, “I want that for all of my patients and families!” It was a ‘light-bulb moment’ and Loving Meditations was born.

Committed to paying it forward…

Now veterans of the cancer odyssey and fueled with heartfelt passion, David and Tamara are committed to paying it forward to those touched by cancer. Their unparalleled expertise in multiple areas combined with their deeply personal stage IV cancer experience makes them uniquely qualified beyond any other players in the industry. Besides bringing maturity, compassion, and commitment to excellence in everything they do, their products and programs are ‘spot on’ in all regards. The powerful combination of ‘who they are, what they do, and what they have been through’ benefits anyone who is touched by their Loving Meditations offerings. Together, this entrepreneurial couple is the creative engine of the company, as they continue to:

  • build a growing library of transformative mindfulness programs that support patients and caregivers in dramatically reducing stress, anxiety, pain, and discomfort throughout their medical ordeal;
  • change lives through online and live teleconferences, workshops, and retreats;
  • elevate the patient experience in waiting rooms around the world with Loving Meditations TV;
  • bring a refreshing and radically disruptive approach to the ‘industry’ of cancer by helping thousands break free of the myriad of perceived shackles of major illness
