Heart Meditation – Your Body Wants to Help You

You are amazing! Your body is very intelligent and wants to help you, in fact, your body is automatically and quickly responding to what you eat, what you smell, what you hear, how you feel, what you say, and yes, what you think. This is why prayer and meditation help not only your mind but also your body.

Hello, my name is Dr. Christina Compton. It is my honor to have been invited by Tamara and David of Loving Meditations who asked me to share a simple, powerful, and timely meditation, a Heart Meditation, during their Peaceful Oasis Live Meditation Concert.

Let’s set the stage, the Heart’s Stage, with these interesting facts:

  1. Your heart is located in the center of your chest and slightly to the left.
  2. Your heart is the hardest working muscle in your body, beating around 110,000 times each day and over 3 billion times in your lifetime.
  3. The lub-dub beating sound is from the opening and closing of its valves, which allows old blood to be pumped up and into the lungs and then allows the new blood to be carried throughout your body nourishing your tissues with fresh oxygen.
  4. Your heart pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood a day.
  5. Your heart is absolutely essential for your body’s overall health and function.

I am often asked, “How should I meditate?” Or people say, “I can’t sit still long enough to meditate.”

Prayer and meditation are unique to you.
There is no one right way, only your way.

Whether you are sitting in a chair, on the floor, outside, or walking, what is important is that you do it. Trust in yourself and remember, you are amazing, your body is incredible, and by focusing on yourself in a kind and loving way, your body will respond. In fact, it will be overjoyed!

I’d like you to remember that you do not need to look ‘outside’ yourself for answers. You do not need to ‘fight’ disease or achieve another goal.

All that you need is already inside of you. You simply need to remember.

Remember that you are already whole and complete, just the way you are. By acknowledging this, you will develop a stronger root system within. When the external world is unsettled, your roots will help you stay strong and steady. You may sway but you will not falter.

The brilliance of your heart is that it brings oxygen and life to tissues throughout your body while moving out ‘old blood’. There is a continuous ‘in with the new and out with the old’ transformation inside of you.

Call on the heart to transform what is old, what no longer serves you, and to bring in the new. Ask your heart to pull in life so that your internal root system can get stronger. Be the gardener or farmer of your internal soil, your ecosystem.

You will become acquainted with your heart, asking it to beat, releasing what no longer serves you, and allowing in the new. I am excited to share this experience with you and look forward to seeing you there.
